About me

My name is Frédéric, I am French. I was born in the city of Lyon and live 1 km from Paris.

My world tour journey
I have been exploring the world during an amazing 2 years journey (August 2014 to August 2016). I spent 9 months in Asia, 2 months in Oceania, 2 months in North America and 11 months in Latin America (have a look on my itinerary). My goal in this world tour was to open myself more to human relations, but also to see, live and experience something different from my everyday life. To discover new places and to discover myself. My previous travels (especially my 4 trips to India and my 2 trips to Nepal) have convinced me that this type of trip promotes self-discovery. Another goal for this long trip was to confront my ideas concerning demographics, food supply, economics, ecology and the operation of society in general, with what I was going to see, live and hear on site.

My passion
To travel in countries very different from mine. The world is so large, so abundant in its variety, why not cover as much as we can ?

Why this blog
I wish to share in this blog my experience of the countries I've visited during this world tour. Share with the people I already know and those that I have yet to meet, particularly other travelers. During these two years this blog have been the medium by which I shared this exceptional experience and regularly update my family and friends.

Meet me or host me
Even after my 2 years journey, I would be so happy to meet some foreign people and share a moment together. If you would like us to meet, to share a tea or a beer, or invite me to sleep or homestay, if you have tips to share with me or places to show me around, then contact me : fredzen4 [at] gmail [dot] com / My Couchsurfing profile
To contact me, you can also use the "Contact" form at the bottom of the blog.

My mantra
Enjoy the present moment, live my dreams rather than dream about my life. This is why I decided to offer myself this two years world tour journey.

My interests
My favorite sports are jogging and badminton, and sometimes I do bike riding, rollerblading, hiking, trekking, skiing, and snowshoe walks in the mountains. I love nature, but I also like to wander without a goal and I imagine myself being a tourist in Paris. I also like couple dancing going to the restaurant and watching movies. I speak French, English, Spanish and Italian.

Teaching the French language
In 2018 I passed a diploma so as to learn teaching the French language to foreign people and I started to give some courses, now I'm a full time teacher and I definitively enjoy this activity! 😃

My lifestyle my ideology

It would rather be “Ecology & Nature”: respecting nature, respecting your body. Several years ago, I discovered with joy the high benefits of meditation. I love the ideas of Buddhism, which partly explains my attraction to countries like India and Nepal. I have been supporting Greenpeace for many years. I appreciate a lot the ideas of naturopathy. I try to eat organic food when it's possible, and I practise fasting as well during one week group sessions once or twice a year. I don't eat a lot of meat.

Artistic activity
I grew up enjoying photography while traveling since I visited India and Nepal, which are a second heaven for photographers. On this page you can see all my best pictures of my world tour journey.

Gastronomy
I love Italian, French, Asian and Portuguese cuisine. I cook ; I have picnics ; I like wine and french cheese.

Cinema
My favorite directors: François Ozonand Hayao Miyazaki. My favorite actors: Viggo Mortensen, Vincent Lindon, Ralph Fiennes, Isabelle Carré and Isabelle Huppert. Movies that moved me the most: Se souvenir des belles choses, The Constant Gardener, Babel, Welcome and Le Fleuve. The movies absorb me the most The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Music
I love French and international music, classical music, some latino music (bossa nova, traditional Cuban music, bachata, cumbia, instrumental salsa), and disco.

Wellbeing
A few years ago, I attended a one week full-time training (6 hours a day) to learn massaging in an excellent school. This is an original way to spend a week of vacation, an experience that I recommend without hesitation!😃
